Family-Friendly F.U.N Event (Future Unfolds Now)

Tapping Trees and Ingenuity!



When and Where

Date: March 12, 2022
Time: 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Location: Tamarack Nature Center (5287 Otter Lake Rd, White Bear Lake, MN 55110)

Event Description:

We’ll learn all about the process of tapping maple trees for syrup. We’ll also tap into our human ingenuity and learn about unique ways people are making the world a better place, especially regarding climate issues. If you’d like to share something you’ve found rather ingenious, or even just a good idea, please share it with us.

We will divide into groups. One group will do the maple syrup-making tour first while the other group learns about the incredible ingenuity that is being tapped into to solve big and little problems, especially regarding climate change. A separate kids activity will be provided during the learning portion to make sure it’s age-appropriate.

There’s no cost for this event!

This event is at a Ramsey County facility. Ramsey County COVID protocol will be followed.



Schedule

9:30 a.m. —Welcome. Kids will go with nature center staff to do a project and adults will learn from Clean Energy Resource Teams about air source heat pumps.



Event Details

Social distancing. Whenever possible, social distancing will be observed by asking participants to spread out during the program and structuring activities in a way that does not encourage close proximity.

Sanitizing. Hand sanitizer will be available for participants to use. If you have a certain kind of hand sanitizer you prefer, please bring that along with you.

Restrooms. Indoor restrooms will be available.

Health screening. Please stay home if you have been exposed to COVID-19 or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath. We ask that all participants evaluate their health before attending a program.

Dress for the weather. This family-friendly event will happen rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. If you are in need of warm items, transportation, translation, or other accommodations, please let us know. Please give us a few days of notice so we can get suitable items for you.


